Meet Dr. April Scott.

A therapist, consultant, and educator committed to breaking the stigma against mental health.

Dr. Scott has had a passion for mental health since she was a teenager. At a young age, she understood deeply just how much power our thoughts have on our whole mental well-being.

And with that understanding, which helped transform her life, she wanted to take that knowledge and experience to help transform others.

Throughout her journey as a therapist, Dr. Scott has worked with a variety of individuals, from vulnerable youth populations, trauma survivors to adults battling addiction.

In each of these groups, there was one thing that always stuck out to her: the power of a resilient mindset.

The question burned—and still burns—why do some people give up and others continuously find the motivation to keep going, despite the odds.

Dr. Scott hopes to leave a little bit of her legacy in each place she spends her time. She currently sits on the board for MidCarolina National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) and Work in Progress.

On college campuses througout her career, she’s developed and worked with organizations that help prepare and shape the student body, like DiCE—a diversity and inclusion campus experience program developed at Auburn University.

At her workplace, she’s created programs and initiatives that the future workforce can easily implement that focuses on enhancing the mental health services available to students like The Resilience Building Workshop developed in 2018.

And for each audience she speaks to, she aims to impress the importance of focusing on mental and emotional health and a reminder that we are all capable of resilience and living full lives.
